In my Keurig B60 review, I talk a lot about how this latest Keurig coffee maker functions as a single cup coffee maker. But if you’ve never encountered single serve coffee makers before, you may be wondering exactly why they are useful. What makes a single cup coffee maker different from an ordinary coffee maker?
Well, the obvious answer is that they serve one cup coffee at a time. Instead of filling up a whole pot and then having you pour coffee and espresso from the pot into your cup, single serve coffee makers pour the exact amount of coffee directly in your cup for you. There are many ways this can be useful. For instance, it’s often useful to have this kind of coffee maker in an office or other group environment, as it speeds up the process of everyone getting coffee.
This may sound counter intuitive, given that it’s a single cup coffee maker, but it can actually make several cups worth of coffee at a time if you need it to, it merely serves them one cup at a time. To get your cup of coffee, you just need to put your cup under the nozzle and press a button, and the coffee maker will quickly fill your cup. It’s much faster and neater then using a traditional coffee maker, and it allows someone distributing coffee to multiple people to ensure that they’re giving everyone an even amount, and aren’t favoring anyone with extra coffee.
It also helps to keep the coffee warm if you make enough for everyone, but not everyone will be drinking it right away. In a traditional coffee maker, the coffee would start to grow cold as it sits around, but in this kind the coffee is kept warmer as it sits in the machine. It’s also easily reheated, without taking great deal of time. The best coffee makers are usually this kind of coffee maker, as true coffee lovers often want high-volume amounts of coffee without having to worry about it going cold.
Finally, those wishing to limit or at least track their caffeine ingestion often find single serve coffee makers useful, because it’s easy to calculate exactly how much caffeine you’re getting. The coffee maker will give you an exact amount of coffee, so if you drink a cup, you’ll know exactly how much coffee was in that cup, as opposed to guessing based on what you poured.
Single cup coffee makers really are very useful for lots of reasons. Keurig coffee makers are especially well-known. If you’re interested in getting a single cup coffee maker, be sure to check out my Keurig B60 review.

Worst coffee ever tasted!
Such a pity…love the machine, it’s very convenient, but Bleggghhh!!! the coffee tastes awful! It leaves a metal aftertaste in your mouth. I used the Timothy coffee that came with the system. I thought I just got bad coffee so I bought a fresh pack. I had the machine for 3 weeks…thought the bad taste would go away but’s not. I’m returning it to the store.
We have been having an issue with our Keurig. The water goes back into the reservoir instead of the cup. We tried descaling the machine. That did not work and then when I called the company, they referred me to trouble shooting videos. these could be helpful, but did not address my problem. I called them back and they offered me a discounted price a new one. My warranty ran out less than 2 months ago! Why would I want another if the life expectancy is a little over a year? Our machine was used on weekends and occasionally during the week. Not exactly over used and abused. I personally would not recommend the Keurig.
One of the best options for families on the go, are single cup coffee makers. These types of coffee brewing systems allow a person to place a travel mug on the base of the unit and brew a single cup at a time. If you’re in the type of family that is always scrambling for time, this may be your best options.
